Trust in Him

Trust in Him

Today’s Faith-Building First is about trusting in Him.

I love Lauren Daigle’s music. The words she sings have so much truth. The song “Trust in You” contains this first set of lyrics:

“When You don’t move the mountains
I’m needing You to move
When You don’t part the waters
I wish I could walk through
When You don’t give the answers
As I cry out to You
I will trust, I will trust, I will trust in You”

The song “I Am Yours” contains the lyrics below:

“Let the waters rise
I will stand as the oceans roar
Let the earth shake beneath me
Let the mountains fall
You are God over the storm
And I am Yours”

These words have truly touched my heart. When I was in my freshman year in college, I had the desire to serve a mission for my church. I went to complete the physical required to participate in the mission and the doctor uncovered some health issues I would have to deal with before I could go. I prayed that we could resolve the health issues quickly. I would soon learn that the issues weren’t a quick fix. I actually had to drop out of college and fly home to have surgery. I was angry because I felt like serving a mission was a good thing and I couldn’t understand why, despite my faith, I would not be able to go.

I never got to return to that university. I never got to go on that mission. I ended up starting some classes at a college closer to home. I know now that God was changing my game plan to align with His master plan. It was at the college closer to home where I met the love of my life, the person I would create a beautiful family and a beautiful life with. I didn’t understand at the time, why things weren’t working out the way I hoped, but I wish I would have trusted in Him a little more. Things worked out exactly the way they were supposed to.

Because He is “God over the storm” we can be fearless and have peace in what is yet to come.

Has there been something in your life that didn’t go as planned, but worked out exactly how it was supposed to in the long run?
